Fun at the Aquarium

It's been quite awhile since I last posted anything! Guess I've just been trying to get organized after the holidays and haven't yet done anything worthy of showing anyone.

Today Delaney, Melissa and I decided to go to Monterey Bay Aquarium to see the seahorse exhibit plus all of the other fun things that we hadn't seen for awhile.

Here's Delaney looking at all of the fish in the Outer Bay exhibit. In addition to a couple of huge schools of fish there were several tuna, rays, and sharks of various types.

Had fun trying to find all of the seahorses that were hiding in the corals. This one was easy enough for us to find and even stayed still for us to get a picture!
Tried to get a picture of one of the hanging whales in the background behind Delaney and Melissa, but it was a bit dark and we were too close to get the whole thing. If you've been to the aquarium you'll know that we were standing on the bridge.
One of the kelp forest sharks came by to get its picture taken.
Delaney in the giant clam. Wish I knew where the other pictures of her over the years in the clam might be so that you could see just how big she's getting. Maybe Melissa has some and will post them so you can see Delaney over the years at the aquarium.
The penguins are always the stars of the show! There were several pairs with eggs up on the ledges of the exhibit today. Can't wait to go back and see the babies soon. There is a baby otter, 11 weeks old, but the crowds were too thick to get a picture worth anything.
After leaving the aquarium we had to stop at our very favorite park, Dennis the Menace Park. This was a favorite of Chris and Tim's when they were little and Delaney thinks that it's pretty special too. They have updated some of it over the years; but it's still just as fun. The suspension bridge is still there and Delaney thought it was great fun to run from one side to the other and back again.
Do you think that she'd make a good mast head? I don't think that this boat will float very well though!
This is either a new structure (to us) or they moved it from somewhere else and painted it. It did look familiar; but we couldn't place where it used to be. Notice the slide underneath though. It is new and was the hit of the whole playground.
The slide is made up of rollers which allow kids to slide head first, feet first, or even standing. There were even several adults trying out this fun slide.
This has always been one of Delaney's favorite "bouncy" slides as she calls it.
The locomotive is fun to climb on and pretend to be the engineer.
A quick picture posing with Dennis himself!
It's not everywhere where you can put your head into a lion's mouth to get a drink!
It was a nice day in Monterey. The fog kept blowing in and out and kept things on the cool side, which is nice for running around the playground. It was a fun day and Delaney slept all the way home!
